Gone are the days of hard labor jobs. With innovations in technology, many of the tougher jobs done by humans have been transferred to machines. This, of course, has led to more office jobs being created and filled. However, along with the comfort that an office job provides us, it also introduces health risks. The following discussion includes a few things you can do to stay active when working at a 9-to-5 desk job.
Exercise Before or After Work
One of the most common issues professionals come across when attempting to introduce more exercise into their life is the very structure of that life. Coming home tired and having to take care of a family may not provide you with the best opportunities to run to the gym and get a workout in. It is highly recommended to begin working out in the mornings. Note that this does not mean you should lose sleeping hours. Instead, try going to bed a little bit earlier. If this also isn’t possible, try to introduce some significant change to your daily routine that opens you up to an alternative way of getting in some exercise. Biking is a great activity to help you stay active. Just remember to take precautions when biking to and from work in order to stay safe.
Have Step Competitions
If you’re a business leader, one of the best things you can do for your staff is to introduce competition in order for them to receive more exercise. Having a healthy staff can provide you with improved results since they’ll be less groggy and in a better overall mood. An effective and safe exercise rivalry to introduce is a step competition. Most people have mobile phones that can track their steps, so it’s an easy way to get everyone to participate.
Set A Timer
When you’re working hard on a project, it can be easy to lose track of time. Before you know it, you look up and three hours have passed. A great way to remind yourself to get up and walk around is to set a timer. Many computers have timers built into their software. You may also utilize various mobile apps. During your breaks, you should get away from the computer screen. Go for a walk around the building, or if you can’t leave, simply step into the hall and walk there. This set time of allowing you to stretch your legs and get the blood flowing is a great way to stay active.
When it comes to working a 9-to-5 job, it can be easy to neglect your health. But when you neglect your health, you’re more likely to start feeling tired and burned out. Apply these suggestions to keep yourself happier and healthier.
